Liqen-puerto-1

Liqen‘s work always seems like taken from an alternative and surrealist world and this new mural, painted for the wonderful Street Art festival Los Muros Hablan 2013 is not an exception.
The new mural was entitled “Iguana Cuatro” and shows the image of a pretty freaky iguana with guitar body holding a machete, but everything has an explanation.
The mural is according to the artist “a distorted (world) vision of the music and culture of the Borincua (Puerto Rican) people” The idea back this piece is to give recognition to the richness and purity of their music and instruments. The iguanas body is formed by a Cuatro, a native instrument with a very peculiar sound whilst the machete is a essential tool for everybody working the land.
Have a look at his blog for more detailed pictures and stories around the mural.
