French wittiness is personified in the work of Levalet also known as Charles Leval who recently exhibited at Project M/3 for Urban Nation Berlin. Like the rest of his work, Levalet’s piece interact with its environments in an interesting way, collapsing two dimensions into a single installation. ‘Surveillance’ shows the image of a man monitoring a group of people and taking notes of what they are doing. A clear comment to a well-known and controversial practice by certain governments and institutions.
