This colourful wall is the work of Chilean designer and muralist Painters and titled “Vida porteña y el ciclo de las estrellas”, something like “Harbour life and the cycle of the stars”.
According to Painters, the idea behind this mural is to show the everyday life of old days fishermen, who after dealing with the sea found some rest in the company of dancers around the old harbour.
As usual in Painters work he mixes elements from traditional graffiti and Latin American indigenous elements immersed in a colourful fantasy world, just like the one we see here and which Painters describes as follows:
“On one side we see the earth and the stars in the sky and on the other the ocean and starfish both representing some kind of natural cycle and what we are able to see both in and outside the sea.”
Location: Calle Beethoven, Cerro Concepción, Valparaíso.
