After a great “Sandwich” in Azores, landed Argentinian artist Elian in Kiev invited by the folks from Mural Social Club, anInternational Festival of Contemporary Art organised by NGO Sky Art Foundation and curated by Oleg Sosnov and Yulia Ostrovska.
The mural, titled “Slight Presence of Transparency“, was painted at a local school at the Obolon District in Kiev.
As pointed by the artist and unlike his other recent work, he hasn’t used transparency effect of the primary colours for this piece, only a slight presence in grey. Talking about the mural he adds “[…] my search is developed on the behaviour of pure colours and overlapping. The white background is almost non-existent, the wall is saturated with figures that respond to a central point. No basic geometric element is present, but the hardness of the transverse lines give a sense of geometry. This piece establishes a debate about the importance of empty spaces (air) in a composition or if the correct distribution of shapes and colours are enough to create a harmonious piece.”
Once again we find ourselves confronted with a minimalistic piece characterised by the use of subtle gestures and strong and contrasting colour choices that give shape to a vibrant and elegant mural.
