Last Friday, on September 10th opened “AMALGAM”, an interesting exhibition featuring new collaborative works by BLO and JAW curated by The Art Union.
Long time collaborators and members of the popular French art collective and graffiti crew Da Mental Vaporz, BLO and JAW, started experimenting with abstraction earlier this year at The Art Union’s group show “What The Weekend is Gallery” for which they decided to leave figuration and throw themselves for full into the realm of abstraction and intuitive painting.
The new body of work represents a joint approach to painting that establishes a new visual dialogue fusing two distinctive voices into one. The exhibition seeks to highlight the pictorial amalgamation that occurs when favouring improvisation and intuition in the process of painting. Each canvas becomes a field for experimentation that gives shape to fluid and expressive compositions. The dynamics of their abstract landscapes are defined by oppositional forces enacted through soft color fields and hard edges as well as pointillism.
The Art Union is a non-profit art association which aim is to create a platform for promotion of contemporary art through exhibitions, workshops, different exchange programs and festivals.
AMALGAM opened on the 16th September at ‘Sound of Snow ‘ in Dieffenbachstraße 37, Berlin-Kreuzberg and will be on view through October 1st, 2016.
