Sheffield-based artist Phlegm is now in the US where he recently finished this new mural for the Art(Re)Public event in Jacksonville, Florida.
Playful, whimsical and remarkably detailed, Phlegm’s black-and-white murals are built up through a sequence of entangled narratives which, depending on the viewer’s location in relation to the wall, reveals new details and stories found deep within his work.
When asked about the meaning about this particular mural, Phlegm expresses the wish to let people use their own imaginations for what’s happening and what it means.
“like all my wall work the imagery comes from comics i storyboard in my sketchbooks. I then paint the wall with a single frame. That way walls become moments from my untold stories.”
