Aa announced a couple of days ago, the German duo HERAKUT, consisting of HERA (Jasmin Siddiqui) and AKUT (Falk Lehmann) is currently in the US in occasion of their new solo show at Corey Helford Gallery in downtown Los Angeles.
The new mural depicts the portrait of one of HERAKUT’s signature characters, painted in that unique story-tale style with which they have earned an undisputed international reputation.
As mentioned above, the mural was painted in occasion of RENTAL ASYLUM, the duos second solo show at Corey Helford Gallery, a show that speaks of a necessity we all have to check in at a place far away from reality. The creatures in their canvases become happy patients of this rental asylum.
HERAKUT consider themselves “storytellers” who want to share their thoughts and questions with the public, so their figurative work is always accompanied with text. Their process of painting is also a dialogue with both artists adding their individual techniques to the piece. Jasmin uses her drawing skills on finding the form and proportion of their characters, while Falk specialises on painting the photorealistic elements.are also involved with a variety of charity organisations – where the two work with children in schools and youth programs teaching young people to create a world for themselves – inside their minds.
Since they joined forces in 2004, the duo have been painting murals all over the world, along with additional works on canvas, paper, installations and film for gallery and museum shows.
