A couple of weeks ago I got a few images of “Adams Heart”, the work of Polish muralist Piotr Chrzanowski, (also known as Chrzan) and his crew who, in collaboration with the Urban Forms Foundation painted in Lodz, Poland.
Adams Heart obviously draws references to Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam” and according to the organisers this was the intention due to the fact that the wall belongs to the facilities of the Medical University and that the artist wanted to link it to the medical practice.
According to the artist the idea came to him when he was going through some images classical paintings and came across “The Creation of Adam” which he thought could be a good starting point, but stripped from all the biblical aspects of Michelangelo’s painting. This is why he decided to insert elements like the DNA chain and several chemistry symbols, creating a link between mysticism and science, because as expressed by Chrzanowski “God created man, and man discovered DNA, here we have some consistency”.
