The Dutch artist duo Telmo Pieper and Miel Krutzmann aka TelmoMiel were recently in Goes, Netherlands where they painted this new and lovely mural for Mural Goes.

Titled Who? the new mural features the image of a young boy in a way that is both surreal and realistically rendered combining a tremendous amount of details and vibrant colours. A dreamlike mural created with making use of multiple layers of different hues of blue, purple and orange that give the composition depth and warmth.

’People walking bye were very interested to know who we were painting. It became a topic, questions back and forth. Actually we painted an unknown figure compiled out of several, to create someone somewhat anonymous. Painting unknown figures forces the viewer to look at other things a bit. Rather then just recognizing the person, in this form it can hopefully initiate further thought. Or at least the appreciation has to come from something else in this case, which is pleasing to us if achieved.
Sometimes it’s weird to think that every life is as substantial as the other, because we’re so involved in our own things. People walking bye on a daily base are kind of a hollow facade, a sort of background characters in your own Truman show. Only because they are unknown to you.
The same type of growth happens with a painting. First it’s new, it’s exciting and frightening at the same time. Afterwards comes the settlement in which you kinda know what you’re dealing with. Followed by it being loved or rejected, or just accepted.
Hopefully this portrait will be loved by the inhabitants of Goes.” – TelmoMiel

TELMO MIEL
The Rotterdam-based Dutch duo TelmoMiel, composed of the artists Telmo Pieper and Miel Krutzmann, define themselves as muralists and creators of contemporary art.
In 20017 Telmo, a licensed illustrator and designer, met Miel, who was already active in the graffiti scene, but it wasn’t until 2012 that they started collaborating, after both had completed the their degrees at the Academy of Art.
The two artists work with a photo-realistic style that focuses on contrasts. They work ideas separately, later combining both sketches and giving shape to surrealistic compositions with great attention to detail. They are also so into each others work that when working on a piece together, they are able to switch places when ever wanted or needed.
